How fencing prices work

Fencing is priced per linear metre — the total length of the fence, added up across every run. Our guide rates are £45 per metre with wooden posts and £70 per metre with concrete posts, for 6ft closeboard fencing including materials, installation labour and disposal of the existing fence.

Worked example

A typical back garden boundary of 20 metres works out at 20 m × £45 = £900 with wooden posts, or 20 m × £70 = £1,400 with concrete posts, as a guide price.

What can change the final quotation

Guide prices are subject to site conditions and any additional work required. We'll talk through anything that could affect your fence on the site visit — for example ground conditions, slopes and changes in level, access to the garden, or obstacles along the fence line — and confirm everything in your quotation before any work is booked.

Measuring your fence

Measure along the line where the fence will go, from end to end, and add the runs together if there's more than one side. Pacing it out is fine for an estimate — one big stride is roughly a metre, and a standard fence panel is about 1.8 m wide. We measure accurately on the site visit.
