Resin bound driveways

Resin bound driveways mix natural aggregate with clear resin and trowel it to a smooth, seamless finish. They're a popular choice for a clean, modern look.

About resin bound driveways

In a resin bound surface the stones are fully coated in resin before laying, giving a smooth finish with no loose gravel. (Resin bonded is different: stones are scattered onto a resin layer and the surface stays textured.)

When laid on a suitable permeable base, a resin bound surface lets rainwater drain through, which can help with the front garden drainage rules.

A wide range of aggregate colours and blends is available, and borders can be added in a contrasting colour or with block paving.

Well suited to

  • A smooth, seamless and decorative finish
  • Permeable driveways when laid on a suitable base
  • Wheelchair, pushchair and wheelie-bin friendly surfaces

Things to consider

  • The base underneath matters as much as the resin. It needs to suit the surface and drainage.
  • Laying is weather-dependent, as resin shouldn't be laid in rain or very cold conditions.
  • Colours of natural aggregate can vary slightly between batches.

Looking after it

Regular sweeping and an occasional gentle pressure wash help keep the surface clean and free-draining.
